Can anyone recommend some classical textbooks about density waves such as CDW, SDW?
http://www.amazon.com/Theoretical-Mechanics-Particles-Continua-Alexander/dp/0070206589 This is the one we're using in my school. By Fetter and Walecka.
Thank u, but what u recommend is a book about classical mechanics, I don't see any connection between classical mechanics and density wave theory as far as I know, for the latter is at least a conception belonged to condensed matter physics. I hope I've made clear my point of view.
Ah, my bad. I thought that textbook covered condensed matter physics. My bad.
Wait, statistical mechanics texts? Does that include condensed matter?
Maybe we can't simply say the word 'include' , for Mechanics (classical mechanics, statistical mechanics, quantum mechanics) is just subjects we learn to understand nature, but condensed matter is a whole field that studies various materials. This field surely uses much knowledge we've known such as quantum mechanics, statistical mechanics, solid state physics, crystallography... We both have much to learn :P
Hey, I just know what my school is using for its texts. Lol. I'm still in modern physics. :c
Er, what do u mean by saying u are still in modern physics...
It's a class offered at our school. It's like introductory advanced proof based physics. It's what we take right after general.
May I ask what do u major in?
mathematical statistics. I'd like to do something in physics though, which is why I'm looking at the sequence.
Mathematitian, an awesome career
You'd be less impressed when I reveal that I want to go into Wall Street, lol. I'm not particularly fond of the idea, but I like money.
That's what many theoretical physicists do now. That's no shame
Are you a physics major?
Yes, LOL
Are you planning on going to grad school? That sounds expensive. :c
U may not believe it, I am a graduate. In my country (China), grad school is almost free, if you are good enough at study. Couldn't locals apply for TA in America?
Whoa. Do you go to TsingHua or PekingU? I have friends who are going there to study overseas. :D
Also, TA position is hard to get. Lol. Competitive.
Hah, I am just near them, I'm in IOP, CAS.
:o China is a nice place to get a job nowadays. I've been thinking about learning Chinese.
yeah, but living in China is annoying, too many people, jammed traffic, high price
