Help don't understand Slope and finding the distance

OpenStudy (anonymous):

find the distance between j and k

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1)Finding the slope. This is done by y2-y1/x2-x1 where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are the 2 points of a line. 2) Distance There is a formula called' DISTANCE FORMULA' which says \[\sqrt{(x2-x1)^{2} + (y2-y1)^{2}}\] Where (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are the 2 points of the line between which you need the distance, it is measured usually in SQUARE.UNITS unless otherwise mentioned in question.

J(5,9) and K(-1,3) \[\sqrt{(-1-5)^{2}+ (3-9)^{2}}\] \[\sqrt{36 + 36}\] \[\sqrt{72}\] which is \[6\sqrt{2}\]

I know that but that answers given was A. 13.42 B. 8.49 C. 7.21 D. 12.65

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well 6 x 1.41= 8.48 which is closest to answer B.

thank you you're awsome
