p-4/9p i still dont get it please explain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hero can u explain

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

you find the LCD of the coefficients of p..which are 1 and 4/9 to get the LCD, multiply their denominators. Since 1 is a whole number, it's denominator is 1 so the product is 9...this becomes the denominator of the combined fractions. Must I go on? or do you get it from here on out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uh go on

OpenStudy (precal):

is this (p-4)/(9p) or 1p-(4/9)p

OpenStudy (anonymous):

p- (4/9)p

OpenStudy (precal):

(9/9)p-(4/9)p (5/9)p

OpenStudy (lgbasallote):

to get the coefficient of the first p (in the combined form) multiply 9 (the denominator of the second term) by 1 (the numerator of the first term) which results in 9p. This is now your first term in the combined form. To get the second term of the combined form, multiply 1 (the denominator of the first term) by 4(the numerator of the second term) which gives you 4p. Therefore, your combined form is (9p - 4p)/9 simplified... 5p/9
