Hi, can you please tell me how to cite a companion document made as a joint position statement to a accompany a book.
Online or print? Would it be included in the book in a subsequent printing (but as yet is "unpublished"?)
Print copy / Here is what I was able to find out:This paper has been developed by DEC to serve as a companion document to the 2003 joint position statement Early Childhood Curriculum, Assessment and Program Evaluation-Building and Effective, Accountable System in Programs for Children Birth through Age 8 of National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the National Association of Early Childhood Specialists in State (NAECS/SDE).
Is there any reason why your source could not "stand alone" as a paper? Was it published / accessible by itself?
yes it was published but there is no specific author, under the title it states: "Developed by the Division for Early Childhood for the Council for Exceptional Children.
Sorry that I've had more questions than answers; sometimes it's hard to talk these through without a copy of the source in front of me. It sounds, however, that you should cite it as a stand alone. Paranthetical citation would look like (Division for Early Childhood [DEC], year) in the first entry and (DEC, year) in subsequent entries. In References, list as: Division for Early Childhood (Year). Main Title: Developed by.... I know the addition of this extra info after the title (representing it as a subtitle) may be an overkill, but without seeing the piece, this my recommendation.
No problem thank you!!
