5p+9c=p for c

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you think you would start?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I say I would multiply the p on both sides.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you multiplied p on both sides, that would give you:\[p \times (5p + 9c) = p \times (p)\]Which is \[5p^{2} + 9pc = p^{2}\] Doing that would make things more difficult. What would you do instead of multiplying both sides by p?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I start with the 5p

I got it the answer is c=-4p/9
