can anyone help me figure out how to graph this. i know how to answer it..... -x+y>5 i know to change it to y>x+5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

than i know that y intercept is (0,3) and slope is 1 and its a dotted line and 0 is not greater than 5. but i dont seem to know what to graph and to shade

OpenStudy (amistre64):

aint got to change it really

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-x + y > 5 --------- 5 x y --- + --- > 1 -5 5 mark on your y axis 5 and on your x axis -5; join the dots with a line

OpenStudy (amistre64):

dotted line

OpenStudy (amistre64):

we need to test a point that is NOT on the line; to determine which side of this thing to shade; (0,0) tends to be the simplest if 0>5 shade the side with the origin, else shade the other side

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yea but what numbers do i graph thats what i dont get

OpenStudy (amistre64):

you only need 2 points to determine a line; that will be your x and y intercepts

OpenStudy (amistre64):

and from the intercept for of the equation; we see that the xint = -5; and the yint = 5

OpenStudy (amistre64):

are you confused how to determine 2 points to draw a line thru?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no i think i get it now

OpenStudy (amistre64):

ok, wish my drawing was better tho lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats ok ...
