On a research paper about genetics (for example), the readers doesn't know what those words mean. Do I need to elaborate what the scientific words mean?

yep

I would add that it really depends on your audience. If you are taking a genetics course and the reader is understood to be your teacher (and other scientists), then some of the basic terminology would not have to be defined. If you are offering this paper / topic to your classmates who are not familiar with your subject, then Caslissa830 is absolutely right.

I presume you are going to make a presentation in order to present your research findings. In such a case, each genetic term can be complemented with a short/brief description in simple words. Try to keep the description as simple as possible. Like, for example: If you are explaining about Gregor Johann Mendel's pea plant experiment: 1) Phenotypes: Factors with visible traits like color, size, shape etc. 2) Genotypes: Factors with invisible traits which affect the organism internally. 3) Alleles: A pair of controlling factors which control some trait. And so on.. If you are presenting the lecture to your own class, you can be a bit lazy and skip some seemingly easy words, like Deoxyribo Nucleic Acid or DNA but, if you are presenting at a higher level, try keeping jargon s to a minimum. :)
