I see, it's that easy?
OpenStudy (saifoo.khan):
easy as cake.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
lol...ok what about(3.5*10^3)(5.1*10^-5)?
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is it 17.85*10^-15?

or u can do like \[(40)^{3}(20)^{6}\]
OpenStudy (anonymous):
but I'm supposed to answer in scientific notation...
OpenStudy (anonymous):
sure it will be 409,600,000,000 and in SF it will look like 4.096x10^12
OpenStudy (mertsj):
\[3.5\times10^3\times5.1\times10^{-5}=17.85\times 10^{-2}=1.785 \times 10^{-1}\]
OpenStudy (mertsj):
And do not pay any attention to sna. 4X10^3 IS NOT the same as 40^3

thank you. how do you divide scientific notation? for example: 2.1*10^6 / 1.5*10^-3
OpenStudy (mertsj):
\[4\times10^3=4000 while (40)^3=64000\]
OpenStudy (mertsj):
Divide the numbers and subtract the exponents.
OpenStudy (anonymous):
is it 1.4*10^3?
OpenStudy (mertsj):
2.1/1.5=1.4
6-(-3)=9
So the result is 1.4 x 10^9

oh I see where I went wrong
OpenStudy (anonymous):
so would 1.0*10^4 / 2.0*10^6 = .5*10^-2?
