Hi World, why does the body produce immunity against a viruses but not bacteria??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Where did you see that the body doesn't have immunity against bacteria?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thank you for replying , what I meant is the second exposure to the same immunogen , why to have recurrent bacterial infection but no recurrent viral infection?? what is the role of memory cells here??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am thinking that this is maybe because that bacteria is attacked by neutrophils while the viruses by lymphocyte...neutrophil has no memory cells on contrary of the lymphocytes.. . does it make sense??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I will suggest you read about immunology. Bacterial infections are treated mainly by Antibody mediated response. It have memmory. e.g. Tetanus is caused by bacteria and we have vaccine against it. i want to know which bacteria show recurrent infection. I can name many viruses eg. inffluenza virus 9and its not becoz of immunological memory)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I appreciate your suggestion because I am still student, in influenza viruses the virus keep changing so thats why body will not recognise it . but mainly the virus will provide the body by antibodies which will keep the person save for the rest of his live but bacteria is not ......why ?? if both response got memory so what is the theory behind this?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am not agree with staement that against bacterial infection we dont get antibodies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I have to be more accurate, because I know that the bacteria also produce antibodies, but what makes it inadequate to protect the patient from recurrent infection ?? Does it fade away after the infection or what??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well @abir i get ur qn i also dunno much but i think when virus enter first in our body system when it passes it genetic material to body it tries destroy it first Tcell or sometime make itself as one of the part of the cell which is found in our body so T cell dont feel it a a foreigner and den virus remain inside the body and get replicated by blood cell by gettin attach to them and then theyslowly affect the body in starting we dont feel but as time goes suddnely we came to knw we are infected by influenza

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i gues virus is helpful to our body when we isolate it so it dont harm us and means while it help T cell in making anti bodies but bacteria donts form as if it i pathogeneous atill den it alo dont forms antibodies i gues means no function like dat at all it perform and if we isolate bacteria too but no need as it ll not be helpful i guesss

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Hi heena , antibodies are there in both bacterial and viral infection ..don't you think ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well virus has the capacity to make antibodies i guesss not bacteria if i remeber as i m also a student but i nvr read anywhere that bacteria makes antibodies

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, have you heard about serology of bacteria ??

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it is the way like penincillin do right

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no my dear it is the way of detecting the bacteria by either its antibodies or antigen.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well but i dont think bacteria also forms antibodie as i never read this do u have any proof that it also do so? as in bacterial infection i nver read such statement

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you can write bacteria antibodies in any search engine and you will get it ..take this as an example http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/002223.htm
