If a figure is dilated by a scale factor of 3, what were the coordinates of the pre-image of W'(-6, 9)? W(-18, 27) W(-3, 12) W(-2, 3) W(-9, 6)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the first one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

W'(-18,27)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can u please explain why

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Time both of them by 3.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what you do is take the scale factor and multiply the coordinates by it. :) to take -6 and multiply it by 3 you get -18 <-- that's your x coordinate

Pre image W (x, y) W'(-6, 9) = 3(x, y) => (x, y) = (-6, 9)/3 = (-2, 3)
