I need help with this... Solve by Factoring and provide "Exact" answers "Only": 12x^2 + 15x - 4 = 0 We're supposed to use this thing our teacher calls "The Big-X and the Square", it's not in the textbook and I'm not sure if anyone is familiar with it. I'll try to explain it.

I know it !

OpenStudy (anonymous):

multiply the coefficient of x^2 and the free term -4 -> this is the product , the sum is the coefficient of the middle term 15

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Is that where you draw four squares in order to try to factor it out?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

@mathg8 Yeah, but what factors of -48 equal 15? That's my problem. @Romero Yes. Yes it is.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ...I see ...she wants you to solve by completing the square?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

OH. OKAY!!! I... forgot about that. xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

do you know how?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yeah. Well, tanks for reminding me anyways :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you're welcome ... tell your teacher that factoring doesn't really work , unless you're using the quadratic formula to find the solutions and then put them in factor form.

Okai ^_^ I will!
