x^2-18x=100
x=9-sqrt181 and 9+sart181
Cannot factor, use quadratic formula
\[9+\sqrt{181},9-\sqrt{181}\]
if you add 81 to both sides, you can factor and ignore that silly quadratic formula. x^2-18x=100 x^2-18x+81=181 (x-9)^2=181 \[x=9\pm\sqrt{181}\]
Let them learn quadratic formula okay?
I cant imagine if a graduate don't know how to use quadratic formula
they dont need to know the quadratic formula... completing the square is a much better use of one's time when learning math--as opposed to memorizing a formula and plugging it in.
\[9+\sqrt{91 ,9} - \sqrt{91}\] this was the correct answer
actually that is not the correct answer
this was \[9+\sqrt{181},9-\sqrt{181}\] as per .Sam
?
what .Sam wrote is correct is all i am saying. the answer with the square root of 91 is wrong
all of us agreed on the same answer, the book or wherever mslorraine got the "correct" answer, was wrong.
