What is the slope of the line given by the equation 6x+2y=8

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=mx + c m=-3 m= slope....

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

To find the slope of such an equation, divide the whole equation by the coefficient of y. Here coefficient of y is 2. Divide the equation by 2. 3x+y=4 Then transpose everything except y to the other side. y=-3x+4 The coefficient of x is the slope. So m=-3. A direct way of finding slope is slope=-(coefficient of x)/(coeffiecient of y)
