OpenStudy (laddiusmaximus):

use the general power rule or the shifting and scaling rule to compute the derivative. y=(4-2x-3x^2)^5 ive solved it to 5(4-2x-3x^2)^4 (-2-6x) but I dont know how to get to the final answer

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

What do you mean the final answer? Your answer looks correct to me.

OpenStudy (laddiusmaximus):

the answer the book gives is -10(4-2x-3x^2)^4 (1+3x)

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

All the book did, is factor out a \(-2\) from the \((-2-6x)\) term. So if your teacher is nit-picky about factoring, write what the book says, otherwise I would keep your own answer. It isn't wrong, it's just in a slightly different form.

OpenStudy (laddiusmaximus):

understood. thank you.

OpenStudy (kinggeorge):

You're welcome.
