what happens to a cell during aptosis

OpenStudy (anonymous):

aptosis is programmed cell death. i dont know the specifics but i do know that the cell uses specific enzymes to target the mitochondria and impair its function, ultimately leading to cell death.

As kev108 replied Apoptosis is a programmed cell death. During this process, the cell volume decreases and different modifications occur in the cytoskeleton, which induces cell membrane 'blebbing'. Following these processes, chromatin is then condensed and then the DNA is degraded. Gradually, the cells fragments within the apoptopic bodies, containing the intact organelles. These apoptopic bodies are finally phagocytosed by the macrophages. Out of all the processes that occur, the macrophages must ensure that the proteolytic enzymes and the cationic proteins are not released into the adjacent tissues.

cell suicide. The cell destroys it self with lysosomes.
