Factor out: 9ysquared - 12y + 4
First, we need to look for a "GCF" Do you see one here?
(3y-2)^2 or (3y-2)(3y-2)
(3y-2)(3y-2)
there isn't one Katrina
By the by, 9ysquared can be substituted with the term 9y^2
Yes, you are correct. Our next step is to follow the hard diamond method. Are you aware on how to begin dwelling on that method?
yep got the answer thx Katrina
When it comes to factoring you always want to look for multiples of the constant that also add together to equal the middle term. In this case you also have a number in your first term that needs to be multiplied and added in. 2*2 is multiples of 4 and when multiplied by -3 equal -6 and -6 -6+-6=-12, which is your middle term and determines that you have the correct answer. And it's good to memorize the signs.. if you have a polynomial where the plus is second, both signs of the factors are going to be the same as the first sign. If you have a subtraction sign as your second sign, both signs of the factors are going to be different, you will have to determine which side each goes though.
