13x=7x-5 Been working on this one for awhile and still no luck. Any help would be much appreciated! :)

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Our ultimate goal ina ny of these equations is to bring all the variables to one side and all the constants to the other side of the equated sign. In order to do so, what must we do with "7x" to bring it 'next to' 13x?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So what I did was subtract 7 from both sides, that way i got 6x=-5, I believe after that i need to divid 6x by 6 so i can eliminate it and get x alone. That leaves me with -5 divided by 6, which to me doesn't make sense. Even if it does when i check the answer it never comes out right. So I'm assuming i'm either missing a step, or doing something incorrectly.

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Are you sure you sure that your checking was valid? At a quick glance, I see the answer to be -5/6 = x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I could be checking it incorrectly. That is most definitely a possibility because at this point i'm really frustrated with it. Everything i've worked on up to this point had a full digit as an answer though, not a fraction, so that may be one reason i'm confused.

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

One min, let me make sure. ;-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks! I don't mind reworking it to make sure i understand it i guess at this point i'm just needing validation i'm not crazy. lol. :)

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Actually, you are correct, that when plugging in the answer, its not accurate for some strange reason :-/ But I am absolutely sure that the answer is -5/6 :-/

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

No worries; Your not the only one going insane with these problems

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:/ hmm. Well at least i'm not alone! Thanks for checking!

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

Hm, I doubt its a no solution question either :-/ Apologies that I was unable to help :( Anytime hun :-)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm sure it has an answer, it's just a matter of finding it. Thanks again!

OpenStudy (katrinakaif):

The pleasure is mine
