Briefly explain the 3 functions of the lymphatic system. please help... thanks
Lymphatic system has more than 3 function, pick 3 that fits best for the subject you're studying. http://www.bcb.uwc.ac.za/SCI_ED/grade10/manphys/functions.htm
we are studying the lympathic system and immunity also respiratory system
I would pick to present these three function, it doesn't cover all of it's function by far. But i think they should relate to your subjects. * The lymphatic system aids the immune system in destroying pathogens and filtering waste so that the lymph can be safely returned to the circulatory system. *To remove excess fluid, waste, debris, dead blood cells, pathogens, cancer cells, and toxins from these cells and the tissue spaces between them. * The lymphatic system also works with the circulatory system to deliver nutrients, oxygen, and hormones from the blood to the cells that make up the tissues of the body.
thank you
The main things seem to be transport of interstitial fluid back to the blood, transport of fats and transport of white blood cells. The idea is that fluids can get squeezed out of blood vessels because of blood pressure - this gets returned by the lymphatic system. Immunologically speaking, the lymphatic system transports APCs (antigen presenting cells) which can present antigens at lymph nodes and start an immune response. So you could say that some cells of the immune system patrol the lymphatic system. I hope this helps - there's a little bit on Wikipedia about lymphatic system, interstitial fluid and APCs: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lymphatic_system
Try page 809 becca =D
it oulines the functions simply
