what does y^4/y^2 =?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well we know x^2= x*x and X^3= x * x* x so what you can do is expand it and then cancel out variables

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i thought the exponents subtracted when dividing polynomials

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well that's one way to see it you are saying Y^4/ Y^2 = Y*Y*Y*Y/Y*Y = Y*Y=Y^2 or how u say it Y^4/Y^2=Y^4-2/Y^2-2= Y^2/Y^0= Y^2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i get it now. thank you

answer should be (X^2 * Y^2) / ( 2 * Z^2)
