plz help :) For the function y=-3+4cos(5pi/6(x+4)), what is the minimum value? i dont understand how to do it..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well lets say you graph a cos function...You see it isolate up and down...so there has to be a max value and a min value

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i wish i could help but i dont know myself

OpenStudy (anonymous):

They are asking for a min value how far down does this function go before isolatinng back up. I'll let someone else tell you how to figure it out

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm really bad at explaining these types of problems.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so i graph it an find the min and max and then its the min

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Well that's one way to do it but sometimes the value is not an integer so by graphing it might be hard to find the exact value but rather an estimate.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok thank u ill try that

OpenStudy (anonymous):

but if you are learning about derivatives then youre going to get the answer wrong....what math are you taking?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

is it -7 and im in pre calc

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Re ask it again see what people say....I kinda forgot how to find it using precalc.
