Can someone please help me? I've asked this question a few times already, but I keep getting mixed answers... Please, I need a clear answer. And, if any of my answers are wrong, could you explain to me what I did wrong. http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=AvG6MM9TfDMooE8xRLzPKy_sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20120305090212AAnJnKm

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

D, C, A, C, A

OpenStudy (anonymous):

which ones are those?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

Those are the first five. Sorry it's confusing to keep switching tabs.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

its fine, lol i'm doing the same thing. hahaha

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So, does that mean the rest are correct?

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

hold on man..

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

gal maybe lol idk

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay, sorry. lol :) and i'm a girl :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. The GCF of 12 and 36 is 12. It multiplies into both 12 (12*1) and 36 (12*3) with no remainder. 2. The GCF of x^4 and x^3 is x^3. 3. 3x - 2 = 3(x - 4) 4. 4x^2 + 16x = 4x(x+4) 5. 2x^2 + 4x - 2 = 2(x^2 + 2x - 1) 6. 10x^5 + 4x^4 + 8x^3 = 2x(5x^4 + 2x^3 + 4x^2) 7. 5a^2 + b = Prime. 8. 2x^3y^4 - 8x^2y^3 + 6xy^2 = 2xy^2(x^2y^2 - 4xy + 3) 9. -3x^2 + 6x - 9 = -3(x^2 - 2x + 3) 10. -2x^3 + 6x^2 = -2x^2(x-3)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

The rest: C, A I'd say 8 is C. 2xy^2(x^2y^2 − 4xy + 3), but those parenthesis can be factored further.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

9) A 10) C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wow, thanks for explaining that :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When you are factoring, look it the highest exponent of x in common with both terms, so you can pull that out of the parenthesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hey, bahrom7893, I think you did 6 wrong... I still think its C. but thanks for your help, you as well ten.

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

6? Let me check again..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

6. Factor completely: 10x^5 + 4x^4 + 8x^3 A. Prime B. 2(5x^5 + 2x^4 + 4x^3) C. 2x^3(5x^2 + 2x + 4) D. 2x(5x^4 + 2x^3 + 4x^2) Yes you're right, it should be 2x^3(5x^2 + 2x +4)

OpenStudy (bahrom7893):

What did I say for 6? I did say C

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Thanks, I thought so, that one tricked me the first time I looked at it, but when I went back to check it, I made me change my answer! Just goes to show how important it is to check your answers. :D

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you said D.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Anyway, thanks for all of your guys help, I really do appreciate it :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I read his/her answer as being C for 6 ;)
