I was wondering if it's encouraged to give someone a medal for a question you didn't ask yourself? I sometimes go through the unanswered questions to see if I can still help someone there, to then see that most questions were actually answered, there was just no medal given. So is it okay for someone else to do this instead? This way the person that provided the answer actually gets his medal, and the 'unanswered' part is easier to look through.

I'm also still a bit unsure on how some other things work on this site, so if there's an explanation or a guide somewhere, I'd be very happy if someone could give a link to that.

OpenStudy (shadowfiend):

Please do! Good answers should be rewarded by anyone who thinks the answer is good :)

okay, thanks a lot

and not only answers, but questions too! (I assume you were talking about answers since question is not marked as unanswered only when answer get medal)

OpenStudy (carniel):

You should only give them medals if that was a question you didn't know and thought it was a good question. Although, your trying to be nice there are things people have to earn.

Hi @altig - great question! As others have said, you are definitely encouraged to give medals to answers/help that deserve it. Also, in terms of a guide, we are working on a couple of different ways to help there - though you can always ask a question here and someone on the OpenStudy team will respond. Thanks for being a great member of OpenStudy!
