Which of the following is the LCM of the polynomials: (x^2+10x+9) and (x^2-1) A. (x+1) B. (x+1) (x+9) C. (x+1)(x-1) D. (x+1) (x-1) (x+9)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

last one

OpenStudy (anonymous):

uhh, i don't think so..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how is (x+1)(x-1)(x+9) a multiple of (x^2 - 1) ?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the answer is A, x+1

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because the first polynomial can be factored into (x+1)(x+9) and the second one can be factored into (x+1)(x-1)....so the least common multiple is (x+1)
