Can someone shed some light on What are some real life applications for vector fields. Thanks

In electrostatics, vector fields are used to represent the electro-magnetic force of an object. Positive charges contain a vector field going away from the source which have decreasing magnitude as you move away from the charge. Negative charges have the same thing but they are pointing into the source. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electric_field
