I have to write a short essay with a close analysis of one of Hamlet's soliloquies' (I chose the "To be or not to be...") Can someone check on my essay outline?

I also have to pay attention to Hamlet's thoughts, attitudes and feelings, and the reasons for them at this point in the play. Lastly, identifying and explaining his thought patterns, style, and technique. Essay Outline: Thesis: Introduce the fact that I am examining the solil. which will provide a better understanding of the character, and the play. Body #1: What it says Body #2: What Hamlet's solil. tells us about his character. Body #3: How the solil. lends itself or effects to the play.

hey milli :3 do you have a thesis ? i think that your outline is okay. but remember that you shouldn't summarize the soliloquy

heey! Yeah I do now, and I changed my ssay outline as well. I don't know what the heck I should write about. >_< What did your teacher?

I'm doing my essay right now actually. i was going to do the "to be or not to be" but i found it difficult so I'm doing act 2 scene 2. my teacher told us that the thesis should answer this question: What is the point of the soliloquy? so what i did was that i took the soliloquy and after reading it a couple of times.. i looked at hamlet's feelings toward what just happened and how that changes through the scene. and so, i arrive with my thesis which is that all of these feelings and attitudes Hamlet has in this scene give him the chance to find the truth about his father

what's your outline now?

Thesis:  Hamlet’s “To be or not to be” soliloquy in William Shakespeare’s, “Hamlet” reveals a better understanding of Hamlet’s character, and the play. Body #1:  Topic Sentence: The theme of Hamlet’s famous soliloquy is about one’s difficulty of knowing the truth from an indefinite universe.  Body #2:  Topic Sentence: Hamlet’s nature as an existentialist and compelled in a situation he is having trouble coping with influences him to turn to a logical philosophical inquiry. Body #3:  Topic Sentence: His soliloquy leads to excessive moral sensitivity that makes actions impossible.

ohhh, i see.

you should make your thesis more clear. in my opinion i think that you should write in your thesis HOW exactly that soliloquy reveal's hamlet's character.
