Find the domain and range. y=2/3sqrtx

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[y=\frac{2}{3\sqrt{x}}\] is this how it is written?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Domain is all the xs you could put in the equation and range is all of the possible ys.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the domain is not all reals

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the denominator can't equal zero because dividing by 0 is undefined, and also taking the square root of a negative number results in a nonreal answer. So your domain is {x|x>0}

OpenStudy (anonymous):

as for the range, 0 is not in the range because there is a horiztonal asymptote at the x-axis or y=0

OpenStudy (anonymous):

also the output will never be negative because the sqrt(x) is positive for all real numbers in the domain

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so the range is (0, infinity)
