Are there any actual teachers on here who can answer some questions for a paper I have to write?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What type of paper

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Interview

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What type of interview, are u planning to become a math teacher or applying for some job math related.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, it is for my education class. I have to interview two teachers and type up their interviews and then turn them in.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am a tutor at my university

OpenStudy (anonymous):

As long as you are somewhat teachers I don't mind to fib a little bit.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Hiya sider1993, this clearly isn't a math question - in the future please post in the relavent section, like writing in this case or you can ask in the chat box :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am also a tutor at my university. I think we can give you some insights

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright then, ask away

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I am going to be a math teacher, so I assumed math is where I would want to be.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

okay thanks guys. Just give me some fake last names or real names don't have to tell me if they are or not.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Well that makes sense, carry on (say that without thinking of starwars :P)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

arnold schwarzenegger

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol. Okay, and what my questions? Anyway, first question: Why did you choose to teach?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

George Bush

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I chose to teach math because, i love math, and i love to share my idea and thoughts on math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I wanted to help people learn and at the same time , get better at communication

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are the reasons that influenced your decision?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.) Math is fun 2.) Math is precise and concise 3.) Math keeps you awake 4.) The concepts involved in math, makes you a better problem solver both in real life as well in you studies.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

what are some of the most rewarding aspects of teaching?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

seeing the student get it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

imranmeah you missed a question if you don't care to scroll up and answer it it would be appreciated.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, I tutor because 1) I need to review my old class 2) need money for the car 3) want to to do something productive in my free time 4) I like the challenge; making people understand math

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1.) You learn as you teach 2.) Seeing students starting to like the most hated subject in the world 3.) I pays the bill 4.) You let your voice/Idea be heard

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Can you give me some specific examples of the rewards you have experienced?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do you mean by rewards

OpenStudy (anonymous):

when you listed the rewards, such as seeing a student who hated the subject start to like it, have you ever had that actually happen?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

well, students usually comes in all confused , and it is satisfying to see them understand the material by the time they leave

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Once i had to tutor in a high school, i had a student who was failing his math class not because he didn't know it, but because he didn't like math but by the time i started working with him he started liking math and ended up with a B in the class.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What are some of the most difficult parts of teaching?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

motivating

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The one thing that drives me nuts is when students are not willing to change

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I tried to relate real world things to their subject.that makes them more interested

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Most students just believe what the teacher or the textbook says. And when they come to me with a problem i try to teach them the concept to such problems so they can solve it any time but most of them just stick to the text book or what their teacher said.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Are you more or less confident in your ability to help kids learn than you were before you started teaching?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

definitely more

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I get more confident every day

OpenStudy (anonymous):

^ agreed

OpenStudy (anonymous):

how effective was your pre-service teacher-preperation (undergraduate) program in helping you learn to teach?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

we can't answer that because we weren't in it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I didnt have any

OpenStudy (anonymous):

alright, arnie need to sleep

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you plan to stay teaching?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no, well I am tutoring so until I graduate or get a better job

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Yes, i will love to.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

If you were to describe the process of teaching in one sentence, how would you describe it?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Ok, this is a simple but complex question. Can you break it down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

How do you teach? (these were pre-made questions so I am just taking them as I interpret them)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

When i teach, i try to give the students the core concepts that is required to solve such problem at hand OR any problems related to that.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Do you believe that teaching is a profession? why or why not?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In some sense teaching is a profession. But my main take on teaching is that who ever that is doing the teaching should be passionate of the subject He OR She is teaching. Because that affects the way the teaching will be done and how the students will understand what is being taught. Even if you are doing it for the money, you should try and make the environment lively in other to motivate the students.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Use the following rate scale to rate the importance of the following questions: 1=not at all important, 2= Not very important, 3=somewhat important, 4=quite important, 5= extremely important.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

1. Knowledge of content, such as math, science, or language arts 2. Knowledge of teaching techniques, such as questioning and classroom organization. 3. Knowledge of students, such as how they learn and what motivates them.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

4 5 5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which do you believe is most important?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Okay thank you so much for answering these! thank you!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Your welcome. Good luck :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks
