lets make a table x 2^x 0 1 1 2 2 4 3 8 4 16 5 32

OpenStudy (anonymous):

you see that every time you increase x by one unit, y doubles

OpenStudy (anonymous):

x x^2 0 0 1 1 2 4 3 9 4 16 5 25

OpenStudy (anonymous):

now every time x increases by 1 unit, y increases, but it does not double, it increases by consecutive odd numbers 1,3,5,7,9...

OpenStudy (anonymous):

In order of growth: 2^x x^2 2x 2^x will grow the fastest because as x gets larger and larger, you will be multiplying more and more but at an exponential rate. At some point, it will outdistance all the others. x^2 will grow the second fastest, because it is x multiplied by itself. 2x will grow the slowest because it simply adds two each time 1 is added to x.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

finally x 2x 0 0 1 2 2 4 3 6 4 8 5 10 now every time x increases by 1, y increases by 2 (the slope of the line is two) that is, you have a constant rate of increase
