Think of it like this. Say 0 represents tails, and 1 represents heads (this is arbitrary). The possible combinations of any flip of the 3 coins are: 000 100 010 001 101 111 110 011 How many contain exactly 1 head? 100 010 001 Which is 3/8. 3/8*100,000 = 37,500 as Agent_Sniffle said.
