GRAPH: 2X+3Y=6

OpenStudy (anonymous):

first you would isolate the y variable so that it would be in the form of y=mx+b where x and y is any coordinate on the graph, and m is the slope, and b is the y-intercept.

OpenStudy (precal):

@brestar ok so what is y=?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I GOT 2 FOR THE Y INTERCEPT

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y=(2/3)x+6 would be your final equation

OpenStudy (anonymous):

wait i mean 2 instead of 6 my bad.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

LOL I WAS RIGHT

OpenStudy (precal):

yes your y intercept is 2 what is your slope? and how do you move

OpenStudy (anonymous):

slope is 2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

because you subtract the 2x, (another one of my errors, it'd be -2 as the slope my bad again)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

then you'd divide by 3 to get y all by itself

OpenStudy (precal):

@thestrokes95 your slope is negative

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so it'd end up being y=-2/3x+2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i clearly can't do quick math...ope..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I NEED HELP GRAPHING IT

OpenStudy (precal):

if you can identify your y-intercept, that is where you begin to graph and if you can identify your slope, that tells you how to plot the rest of the pointss. you told me your y intercept is 2 so you start at (0,2) what is your slope? that will tell you how to move

OpenStudy (anonymous):

SLOPE IS -2/3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

CAN SOMEONE SHOW ME HOW THEY GRAPHED IT BECAUSE I GOT THE ANSWER FROM THE BOOK BUT IT SHOWING ME SOMETHING ELSE

OpenStudy (precal):

do you understand that 2x+3y=6 3y=6-2x y=6/3-2/3x y=2-(2/3)x your y intercept is (0,2) and your slope is -2/3 how do you move when your slope is -2/3? by the way if your slope is negative that means your line is going down

OpenStudy (anonymous):

GOT IT

OpenStudy (precal):

ok hope I helped. You might want to check out that website. You can practice graphing

OpenStudy (precal):

|dw:1331851106616:dw| this is how you move from the y intercept
