Find the equation of the line that passes through the points (-2, 3) and (1, -6).

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Do you know how to find the slope of a line with two points given?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

No :/

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Ok, Its not a problem not knowing something :) If (x1,y1) and (x2,y2) are two points of a line, then the slope of the line is given by: \[(y2-y1)/(x2-x1)\] Now, Put in the given values in this. y2=-6 y1=3 x2=1 x1=-2 Calculate the slope, then post it. We shall move to the next step after that. Ok?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I know how to do that. LOL. Oh damn I feel stupid.

OpenStudy (mani_jha):

Ok, then. Consider the slope as m. The equation of the line will be: (y-y1)=m(x-x1) Put the values for x1,y1 and m but let y and x be as it is.
