Determine how many liters 8.85 g of carbon dioxide gas would occupy at the following conditions. STP = ? L 150°C and 3.00 atm = ? L 223 K and 135 kPa = ? L

OpenStudy (anonymous):

We can treat carbon dioxide as an ideal gas. Therefore, the ideal gas law holds. \[PV = nRT\]However, we don't know the number of moles directly, but we do know the molecular mass of carbon dioxide. We can express n as\[n = {m \over M}\] where m is the mass and M is the molecular weight. The rest is plug and chug. Be sure to select the correct gas constant R with the proper units. For the first one, we want to use \(0.08206 {L ~atm \over K ~mol}\) remember to convert Celsius to kelvin. The second one, we should use \(8.314 {L~kPa \over K~mol}\)
