Can I please get some input? Parker decides to jog from one end of the Cottonmill hike/bike trail to the other end and then return the same way he came. The trail runs in one direction only. The graph below reflects Parker's activity. Two of the four explanations below are valid. Can you determine which ones are correct and which ones are incorrect?

a. Parker jogs for a while, rests for a greater length of time, resumes running, eventually turning around and running all the way back to where he started. b. Parker builds up speed gradually, then jogs at a constant rate followed by a short burst of speed before returning to where he started. c. Parker jogs at a constant speed, stops for a long rest, runs to the end of the trail and then returns to the starting point, jogging faster than at the start. d. Parker slowly increases his jogging speed, walks slowly for a long ways, runs to the end of the trail, and then returns to where he started at a quick pace.

It is A and C. The first part of the graph shows the distance grows with time in a straight line that means constant speed. (If he were speeding up the line would curve getting steeper as he ran faster) the middle part shows he stays the same distance from home. This could mean he stopped or it could mean he was runing on the arc of a circle always the same distance from home. None of the choices mention this 2nd option. He then moves away from home for a bit, then heads back home. the steeper line means he is jogging home faster than when he left.
