for any two lines that are parallel, their slopes will be same, but the value of the y-intercept will be different.



so basically you can say that if a line is ax+by+c=0,
the parallel twin will be ax+by+k=0

now for solving the question, just write the new line as ax+by+k=0 and put the value (x,y) in it form the coordinates of the point through which the line passes, and get the value of 'k'
now put 'k' in the equation that is, ax+by+k=0 (where a and b are known of course), and you have your answer staring right in your face!!
