if you add agno3 to lithium iodide it forms a precipitate.. what happens when you add hno3?

OpenStudy (jfraser):

Are you adding the HNO3 to the silver nitrate, or are you adding the HNO3 to the lithium iodide? Which combination you use matters.

adding the hno3 to the precipitate

OpenStudy (anonymous):

nothing

OpenStudy (jfraser):

nothing, because you've probably already dropped out all the silver ions by forming the ppt

theoretically speaking this can be chain reaction.....as first lino3 and agi formed. agi may react with hn03 partially to form agno3 and hi . hi is a good reductant...and form iodineturning solution brown...but i dont think your question demans this, but in lab , it may occur
