x+2/5=9/10 solve

OpenStudy (aroub):

x=9/10-2/5 x=9/10-4/10 x=5/10 x=1/2

OpenStudy (anonymous):

can yall show me how you get the answer please

hero (hero):

\[\frac{x+2}{5} = \frac{9}{10}\]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

\[\Large x=\frac{9}{10}-\frac25\] \[\Large x=\frac12 \quad or \quad x=0.5\]

hero (hero):

10(x+2) = 45 10x + 20 = 45 10x = 45 - 20 10x = 25 x = 25/10 x = 2.5

OpenStudy (anonymous):

whats that hero

hero (hero):

Those are the steps to get to the answer. You didn't post your problem correctly to begin with so you left it open to interpretation as to how to set it up.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thats how the test has it setup

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks you guys

hero (hero):

You don't get it chance1 You presented the problem linearly \[x + 2/5 = 9/10 \space \text{isn't the same as} \space \frac{x+2}{5} =\frac{9}{10}\]

hero (hero):

If you post it linearly like that people will believe that it means: \[x + \frac{2}{5} = \frac{9}{10}\]

hero (hero):

Do you understand what I am trying to tell you?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

yes but i dont know how to write it like that
