What is the length of the transverse axis? (y-2)^2/(16) - (x+1)^2/(144) =1

OpenStudy (amistre64):

which ones transverse?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

-x^2 never can equal a +1 so the only axis we cross is the y axis; so if we double the sqrt of the denom under y that should do it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so you take y-2^2 and 144 and do what

OpenStudy (amistre64):

the 144 is under the x stuff so i dont think its gonna be important; but that might be the althimerz talking 16 is under the y spot. sqrt(16) = 4 ; this should be half the distance we want, so double it

OpenStudy (anonymous):

I'm confused the square root of 16 is 4 but you want me to double it? so would it be 4(4) or 4(2) making 8?

OpenStudy (amistre64):

4 doubled is 8
