Solve for y: 2x – 3y = 6

OpenStudy (jlastino):

Is there a second equation?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no u just solve for y but i dont now how you get y by its self

OpenStudy (anonymous):

subtract 2x from both sides then divide both sides by -3

OpenStudy (anonymous):

-3y = -2x + 6 y = (-2x + 6)/(-3)

Is there something you do not understand? do you want me to show every step of the process? Remember that we have an equality here and thus to maintain the equality what you do to one side you must do to the other. For example 2 = 2 if we added 3 to one side 2 + 3 = 2 we get 5 = 2 5 =/= 2 the equality is ruined. Conversely if we add 3 to both sides 5 = 5 the equality is maintained :) and the equation remains the same and we can acquire accurate data from it
