[x+2/3x] / [x+2/3x] for x=7

OpenStudy (anonymous):

What do we do when we divide fractions by other fractions? Do you remember?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

they are not fractions its x+2 divided by 3x

OpenStudy (anonymous):

That's a fraction. When you divide one fraction by another you have to take the reciprocal, so you will have: (x+2)/3 * 3x/(x+2). You could just plug in 7 for x in this case, but for some problems that you have in the future, you will have to take the reciprocal.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok, but these are not fractions. It is [x+2 divided by 3x] divided by [x+2 divided by 3x]

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A fraction is when something is divided by another.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

oh ok I understand now, thanks.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

So if I plug in the 7 do I multiply the 3x7

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

yes

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks

OpenStudy (dumbcow):

its the exact same thing on top and bottom....thus answer is 1 no matter what x is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ok I think I got it thank you
