What is the average rate of change of the world population with respect to time from July 1, 1965 (3.3 billion) to July 1, 1970 (3.7 billion)?
@TuringTest @sasogeek @robtobey @NotTim @No-data @Mertsj @jhonyy9 @ghass1978 @brainshot3 @ash2326 @AccessDenied
Change in population / Change of time
so .4/5?
are you measuring time in months or years?
i did it in years. it doesnt specify how to do it in the question though.
either way, it will be some value per unit time and using the formula @AccessDenied gave (which is correct) I suppose it should be easy, haven't worked it out myself but i guess it's self explanatory :) difference it population/time elapsed ...
cool pic mario
so the answer is .08?
0.08billion per year... rate of change of world population... you got it :)
4. In class we have studied the exponential growth model. Assume that the population of the world is growing exponentially. Use the data that you found in question 2 to write a model for the population P of the world t years after July 1, 1965. The units on P should be billions of people.
i need help with this question ^^^^
sorry but I don't know anything about the exponential growth model, you could ask in the chat though... i'm not very concentrated with OS help or chat right now :/ sorry
Poe^rt I think
@phi @precal @saifoo.khan
@amistre64
what level math is this? Just wondering, sometimes it helps us.
calc
Is this an integration problem?
exponential growth
Don't you need a function? Were you given a function? Your instructions mention the use of question 2.
2. Find the world population on July 1, 1965 and July 1, 1970. Round your answer to the nearest tenth of a billion. You will need to do some research to answer this question. Be sure to cite the source that you used for your information and write one sentence indicating why your source is credible, based on what you learned in question 1. • The world population on July 1, 1965 was 3.3 billion. On July 1, 1970 the population increased to 3.7 billion. • Source: Compiled by Earth Policy Institute from United Nations Population Division, World Population Prospects: The 2010 Revision, electronic database, at http://esa.un.org/unpd/wpp/index.htm, updated 3 May 2011; UNFPA, “World Population to Reach 7 Billion on 31 October,” press release (New York: 3 May 2011). • It is a credible source because it comes from a database that collects world population statistics. Thats question 2 ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
