Need help with factorization: 50a^2+40a+8 I know to look for a common factor or what it's called (Sorry don't know word in english) But I just can't find one. Need help understanding this..

OpenStudy (jlastino):

The common factor here is 2 so it becomes 2(25a^2+20+4) now here's our problem we know that the factors would look like this (5a+ )(5a+ ) the last term should be the product of the missing numbers the middle term should be the sum of the product of the outer and inner terms So the only possible answer is 2(5a+2)(5a+2) or 2(5a+2)^2

Thanks, I understand the first part but not how you get the (5a+ )(5a+ ) part.. :/ Am I just braindead?

Have a problem with brackets it seems :)

OpenStudy (jlastino):

the first term is 25a^2 so i know that the product of the first terms of the factors equal to that 5a(5a)=25a^2

Oh, that makes more sense !
