x^2 – 16x + 15 = 0
Hello, Welcome to OpenStudy
hello
does it really matter?
?
can you help e with y question or not?
*me with my question
sure
are you being helped?
ignore luck4u she seems to be spamming
what the heck!
@dpaInc please help her, i am working on another question
what does that even mean
ok and dpalnc no :(
ok...
is the problem to factor: x^2 – 16x + 15 = 0
no i think its to find x
oh yeah... sorry, we can accomplish that by factoring... can you factor the left side? write it in this fashion? x^2 – 16x + 15 = 0 ( ) ( ) = 0
he first thing to go in those binomials is x because that's the only way to get x^2.... (x ) (x ) = 0
now you need to figure out what multiplies to 15 and at the same time add up to -16. can you figure that out?
yeah sorry im just slow when it comes to math
that's ok... take your time and try it out.... that's why you're here....
actually, this is the part where a lot of people have trouble because it is a bit of guess and check. lemme help you...
thank you
what multiplies to 15? let's try 3 and 5... so the factoring will look like this: (x + 3) (x + 5) but notice 5x and 3x will add up to only 8x (the middle part of the trinomial) so 3 and 5 will not work, agreed?
yes
can you think of another way to multiply two numbers to get 15? (other than 3 * 5)
