what would be the energy of the future? an energy that is not carbon base?

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Solar! Though I suppose that uses plastic. hmm. Anyway good question :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

although solar is good alternative. but it is not cheap until now.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Good thing its now then :P In reality I think we should use a mixture of renewable energy sources.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i am thinking of an energy which is immensely vast and environmentally friendly.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Immensely vast.. hmm... hydro then? Or more specifically wave energy? There is some really cool projects around with that :)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i have been read a lot of article regarding renewable/alternative energy but no one really presented an energy that can be mass produce and be use by the consumers.

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Hmm there doesn't seem to be much going into mass production other than solar power (that I've seen) that's really being installed on a home basis. Though hydrogen does seem to have promise, pity its so costly to purify it.

OpenStudy (mos1635):

(how far in to the future is that???...) if not nuclear fusion reactors are success..... i am sorry to tell you that nuclear reactor will be inforced to human race. they are the only power sources than can produse the amount of energy nesesery to maintein the consumers way of life.... so you see there are alternatives but if not something drastic hapens to the way thing are done to this planet, i see no future to them.... sorry for the pessimist point of vieu but reality does not change

OpenStudy (trancenova):

Well I would have to agree with you, those in power (those with money I mean) seem to be leaning towards options such as nuclear - though given the events in Japan it seems that the world is leaning away from that - to an extent. I think it depends (basically) on time and what happens. At the moment there are so many options - who knows maybe something drastic might happen which would change the fate of the energy industry. For now though, one thing is certain, we are stuck with fossil fuels. However! There are a (growing) number of areas which do - and successfully - use renewable resources. It is not all doom and gloom. I think also there will have to be a shift in perception in how we view resources as a whole and I suspect that will only happen if there is some sort of catastrophe.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

i think it will be H2-O2 fuel cells or photovoltaic cells..

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks to all your reply. but i think it will be an electromagnetic application will be the future of energy. how does it works is still i don't know it's just my thinking. like for instance a hybrid car can be operated by gasoline and later by electric and gasoline again. but still it cannot go for so long without gasoline since electricity is derived from gas feed engine. I notice one filipino inventor whom introduced an engine based on electromagnetism application. how does it works is i don't know like i said earlier. but certainly if that technology is perfected it's a good alternative one. another is the technology introduce by tata motors of india that car is operated through air. wherein air is heated causing the piston to move.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

the way population is increasing and resources depleting,it is probable that researchs may be promoted towards large scale energy souces like fusion reators, low cost photovoltaics etc..gasoline is going to deplete in future so i think that main source of energy would be nuclear fusion and all the cars, planes and everything will be developed to run on electricity( using compressed air or directly)..

OpenStudy (chmvijay):

water splitting into hydrogen can solve most of the problems!!!

hugs?
