OpenStudy (anonymous):

Which characteristic could help you distinguish between bacteria and fungi? a. Fungi are decomposers, but bacteria are not. b. Bacteria are single-celled organisms, but most fungi are not. c. Only fungi have cell walls, but bacteria do not. d. Fungus only grow in moist locations, bacteria do not.

OpenStudy (faman39):

Its should be A

OpenStudy (faman39):

or b

OpenStudy (faman39):

I think most, its b

OpenStudy (anonymous):

None of them are correct, strictly speaking. a. Fungi as a group have special external enzymes they use to decompose things. A good deal of bacteria do decompose, but many are primary producers. (Such as cyanobacteria. b. Yes, all bacteria are single-celled, but saying 'most' fungi are not is kind of weird. Most we think of are multicellular, but many glomeromycetes and zygomycetes are single-celled, as well. Not to mention the recently discovered phylum (tentatively named cryptomycota) that comprises roughly half the diversity in the kingdom. c. Fungi and bacteria both have specimens that may or may not have cell walls. d. We should all know this one isn't it.

OpenStudy (blues):

@Navanax, I especially like the option for d.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

The answer is B, as Navanax said It sound weird, but all the rest are more wrong. I belive the answer is just not wery well-written and sounda weird, but is not completely wrong
