got a question

OpenStudy (anonymous):

A scientist hypothesized that one species of dinosaur was the ancestor of a later species of dinosaur. She then found fossil evidence in several places that this was so. Why can't her hypothesis become a scientific theory at this point? Answer A scientific theory explains a wide range of phenomena, and this does not. She needs to test her hypothesis further before it can become a theory. The hypothesis cannot become a scientific theory until it is published in a scientific journal. Too much evidence has accumulated supporting her hypothesis for it to be called a theory.

OpenStudy (carniel):

Its the 1st one xD

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya i agree

OpenStudy (carniel):

EG are you even there xD?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

quick question what about 2 would that be possible cuz she would have to test it wouldn't she?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz the evolution theory was tested before it became a theory

OpenStudy (carniel):

A theory is basically still a Hypothesis.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya thats what i thought cuz the evolutionary method is just that a theory until someone has real evidence of it that connects with it the become a fact thats all it is

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol now I am

OpenStudy (anonymous):

thanks guys

OpenStudy (anonymous):

no prob i like this tag team thing going here lol

OpenStudy (carniel):

@Mud Yeaaaaaa boy :P @evergirl No problem

OpenStudy (anonymous):

cuz even though we may have different answers we basically narrow it down pretty well without a second thoguht lol

OpenStudy (carniel):

Lol agree =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

ya totally! ;)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

y cant the ans be 2nd ??? any reason

OpenStudy (anonymous):

2 against one u loose

OpenStudy (carniel):

Lol

OpenStudy (anonymous):

:( i really wanna knw reason as i have a test on this chapter on coming sunday and acc to me i guesss 2nd ....

OpenStudy (carniel):

Heena read the recent ones at the top =) You will figure it out.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

hmm.. but if u guys go with 1st u see in qn dey asked y nt it becomes theory "at this point " so by this we can go with second if the qn is ask y not it beomes theory that time we can anss 1 isntd??

OpenStudy (carniel):

Read that =)

OpenStudy (anonymous):

at this particular point it can become theory but it dossent as she only given hypothessis on ome result for making it theory he have to test further too by seeing one conclusion we cant ssay it theory :?

OpenStudy (blues):

The first answer is right. A hypothesis pertains to a specific thing - like I'd hypothesise that my boyfriend forgot his lunch if I saw him buying lunch in the cafeteria. I would test that by looking through his office to see if his lunch bag was in it, or by going home and seeing if it still in the kitchen. A theory pertains to things in general - like I would theorise that all boyfriends forget their lunches. I would test that by seeing how often men buy food in the cafeteria as compared to women, or by talking to their girlfriends, or whatever.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol nice example :) thnx...

OpenStudy (blues):

Let's just say it's lunch time where I live and he just asked me to drive home and get it for him.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

lol i was thinking that smwhat happen with u like that, dats y u stated the xmaple :P anyways point is my doubt is clear :)
