so, every 3 out of 5 flowers is yellow. now she picks 15 flowers that is 3 times as many right? so how many flowers would be yellow? three times as many as no. of flowers that turned yellow in 5. that is 3 times 3!!

OpenStudy (anonymous):

mary picks 3 flowers out of each five flowers so 15 = 3 *5 i.e three times she picked up five flowers and each time she picks 5 flowers she picks up three yellow flowers... therefore she actually picked up 3 times three yellow flowers i.e. 9 yellow flowers

She picked 9 yellow flowers.
