why is this statement Incorrect--> * Given R(x)=x(x-a)/(x+b)(x-a) for a, b, and c>0, the function has two x-intercepts, two vertical asymptotes and a horizontal asymptote?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

Check something... is x=a an x intercept? Does plugging a into the equation give me y=0?

OpenStudy (anonymous):

top lead coef/bottom lead coef

OpenStudy (anonymous):

It's incorrect because the equation has (x-a)/(x-a) in it. They cancel out leaving only an undefined point at x=a. There is NOT a zero at x=a. There is NOT a vertical asymptote at x=a.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

very right, i see it... :))))))

OpenStudy (anonymous):

a is a hole point because a is not in the domain.
