how do you factor trig. trinomials

OpenStudy (kainui):

You can look at sin(x) as just being x, and factor that way, then change it back when you're done. Don't forget that \[\sin^2(x)=(\sin(x))^2\] it just looks funny.

OpenStudy (anonymous):

so if u had 2sin^2x-sin x-1=0 would this be factorable

OpenStudy (kainui):

Yes, because it's the same as 2x^2-x-1 except that instead of x's you have sin(x)'s instead.
