I am about to take an assessment test of mathematics and I have been study language almost seven months and I need some advices
Can you be more specific? Do you know if your assessment includes Calculus? What math have you studied so far?
basic algebra and calculus
Well, this study group for MIT OCW Scholar - Single Variable Calculus course is a good place to start, unless going through the OCW course step by step is too slow...? So I'll start with the basics, but if you know what to study skip to #3. 1 (part A). Find out exactly what topics of Algebra and Calculus you need to study. Most schools have explanations on their websites of what is covered in the assessment, or sometimes a sample test. This can save some time for the rest of the process. 1 (part B). Diagnosis: Know what your strengths and weaknesses are. Sometimes the school will have an online self-diagnosis (e.g. Cal Berkeley has this one: http://diagnostic.math.berkeley.edu/exam.php ), but you can also find them online by googling the subject area + assesment (e.g. "Calculus online assessment test" 2. Make a list of the topics you have trouble with. I found it helpful to refer to this list while I studied. It can help connect the dots when, for example, a weak area is due to not understanding how that topic relates to other topics. 3. For weak areas, use this site and the MIT OCW media. Asking questions here imho is a great help. Also, the videos on specific topics are easy to find, http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mathematics/18-01sc-single-variable-calculus-fall-2010/course-outline/ and quiz's and tests with the solutions to check your answers, are included in the course materials. http://ocw.mit.edu/courses/mathematics/18-01sc-single-variable-calculus-fall-2010/download-course-materials/ 4. I've also found I digest the material quicker when I get different views of the same topics. These sites are great for that: patrickjmt.com www.khanacademy.org http://www.brightstorm.com/math/ (for me it's usually in that order) And while it helps to study algebra too, algebra is necessary for most topics covered in calculus so you'll flex those muscles here as well. Hope this helps.
thank. I really appreciated
