If figures are similar, then you have proportionality. That is, let's say a triangle has three sides A, B, and C. (I hope it has 3 sides anyway) Now you have a proportional triangle A', B', C'. (Where A' is the side corresponding to A). Then if A = k*A' for some constant k, it follows that B = k*B' and C = k*C' also.
